Youth Beginners Evening Sailing Course
We run our Beginners evening sailing course over 11 Thursday evenings during the summer term. The course is 5:30pm - 8:00pm and will get everyone out on the water and enjoy their first time sailing. These are open to everyone aged 8 - 16, with plenty of opportunities to get in control of their boats while having a great time. We will be working towards RYA stage 1 and 2 of the youth sailing scheme that is the first step to a fulfilling childhood sailing. These camps are an excellent opportunity to get out on the water and get lots of sailing while having a great time and gaining valuable qualifications. If you are looking for an alternative, we also run summer camps.
Assumed Knowledge
This course is ideal for beginners and requires no prior learning.
Syllabus
The course will be taught with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor and covers the following:
Stage 1 - A basic understanding of how a boat sailing, with some experience of steering and handling the boat. Including Launching and recovery, steering, parts of the boat, basic sailing.
Stage 2 - A range of sailing skills and knowledge to help in becoming a confident sailor. Including Basic sailing skills, ropework, collision avoidance.
