Penarth Motor Boat and Sailing Club was formed in 1932 and changed to Cardiff Bay Yacht Club in 1999. It is situated on the water’s edge overlooking Cardiff Bay, Europe’s most exciting waterfront regeneration scheme.

A large Cruising Section.A vibrant program of social activities. The Clubhouse, opened in 1998 by H.R.H. Princess Anne, has two bars, ample changing facilities, and the Club’s Administration Office.The larger of the two bars, the Quarterdeck, has floor to ceiling windows giving a panoramic view of the bay. With seating for up to 120 diners, it is the venue of the Club’s main social events, such as the Annual Dinner/Dance and the Shanghai Cup. There is also a restaurant on the quarterdeck where our resident caterer serves up gourmet meals on a Thursday to Saturday evening and Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday Lunchtime, which are extremely popular with our members.The smaller Quay lounge on the ground floor also has great views out over the Bay and is a cozy retreat for the weary sailor.
It is now one of the premier water sports clubs in Wales and in 2004 was awarded ‘Volvo Championship Club' status (now know as British Youth Sailing Recognised Club), one of only three clubs in Wales to achieve this remarkable standard.The Club offers its members a wide range of facilities both nautical and social. It has extensive mooring rights for 500 boats with a fully piled pontoon system on the River Ely. There are two slipways, the club also has a travel hoist for getting the larger boats, up to 50t, out of the water. Activities at the Club include:
