Youth Advanced Sailing Camp
During the school holidays, 5-day camps will get everyone out on the water and enjoy themselves. These are open to everyone aged 8 - 16. We will be working towards the advanced modules of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. These camps are an excellent opportunity to get out on the water, get a lot of sailing in, and enjoy a range of sailing dinghies and learn to sail at advanced levels.

Assumed Knowledge
This course is ideal for sailors who have completed Stage 3 of the Youth Sailing Scheme and sailors that attend our race training.
Syllabus
The course will be taught with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor and will cover some of the following (max 2 units) depending on the group:
RYA Stage 4 - Launching and returning to a beach, jetty or mooring, and sailing a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions.
Seamanship Skills - How to handle a boat in all circumstances and solve problems afloat. Launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances, stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard, anchoring.
Sailing with Spinnakers- Everything you need to know about sailing with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers How to rig the boat, gybe and recover one type of spinnaker, either conventional or asymmetric. How to sail the best possible course downwind.
Performance Sailing- Improve your boat handling and confidence in performance dinghies, Coaching to improve your sailing, primarily in two person boats with spinnakers
Intermediate Racing- Improve you racing technique and knowledge for racing at club level, builds on your basic racing skills and helps you improve the key principles of starting, boat handling, boat speed, strategy and tactics
