RYA Safety Boat
The Safety Boat Course is a comprehensive training program designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to operate a safety boat effectively. The course covers a wide range of topics, including launching and recovering a safety boat, approaching and assisting boats in distress and managing crew and casualties. This course is suitable for anyone who operates a safety boat, including water sports instructors, rescue boat operators, and marina staff. By the end of the course, participants will have the confidence and competence to respond to emergency situations and provide effective safety cover for water-based activities.

Assumed Knowledge
A basic understanding of sailing boats and windsurfers. RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate must be held prior to this course.
Syllabus
The course will be taught with a ratio of 3 students to 1 instructor and covers the following:

Launching and recovering a safety boat

Approaching and assisting boats in distress

Effective communication with other boats and rescue services

Legal and environmental aspects of safety boat operations

Safety equipment and their uses

Navigation techniques and emergency procedures

Handling different types of watercraft in various conditions

Operating in different bodies of water, including rivers, lakes, and oceans

Identifying and managing hazards and risks

Developing an emergency response plan

Providing effective safety cover for water-based activities.
