This weekend the 420s visited Grafham Water for their class EOS championships. Six CBYC joined the healthy fleet of 39 entries. Saturday dawned grey with light winds suiting some of the lighter crews, after 4 races Ella Lance and Will Martin (CBYC) led the field with a consistent 2, 2, 1, 4 followed by Ellie Thomas in 6th and Ellie Creighton in 7th.
An overnight Northerly weather system rolled through with Sunday racing commencing in a constant F5 gusting F6-7. The temperature had also dropped to single figures with many of the fleet struggling in the cold gusty conditions. Despite this, Ella and Will continued their consistent Saturday performance “sending it” through the reaching finish in race 8 to be crowned 2021 EOS champions, following on in style from their British Nationals victory earlier in the year. Congratulations to Will and all the other CBYC sailors who persevered in the cold conditions. Next week the CBYC team head to Pwllheli for Welsh National squad training with many then travelling to Palamos in Spain in December.
