Good news!
Important - FROM Monday, 1st June ...... NOT THIS WEEKEND ! Following the Welsh First Minister’s address at lunchtime today and the welcomed update of Local Notice To Mariners (both attached) we have now received clarification from the Harbour Authority that from Monday 1st, recreational boat owners can use their boats within Cardiff Bay. You are not allowed to stay overnight away from your usual residence (so day trips only) and to comply with the Government’s guidelines you should travel no more than 5 miles. Please also note that you are only permitted to sail or socialise with people who live in the same household as yourself unless you can keep 2 metres social distancing. I must impress upon you the continued risk to health of the COVID-19 pandemic and remind you that Social Distancing must be maintained at all times. So as not to encourage groups forming. In effect, the clubhouse is closed, but you may access the grounds and your boat at your own risk. The clubhouse including the main toilets and showers, and catering facilities will remain shut until further notice but the two members toilets situated at the ground level waterside of the clubhouse will remain accessible with the use of your members card. Please make sure you use sanitising products and leave the area clean after use. I would encourage you to wear facemasks, particularly where it is difficult to socially distance and when entering the toilets. Please also consider other members when using pontoons or narrow walkways by making use of passing places and/or waiting for them to exit the walkway. From Monday the yard will be manned and we hope to start launching and recovering boats as soon as we have the relevant staff back on duty. The office will only be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 10am – 3pm. Tel. 029 2066 6627. If you need to visit the office please phone and if safe to do so you will be directed to the rear entrance of the office. Knock on the door and you will be met by a member of staff or a committee member helping out. Please do not enter the office. Attached is the Local Notice to Mariners and the latest statement from the Welsh Government.
