Club update regarding COVID-19
As always, we hope you are keeping well. The safety of all our staff and members is absolutely at the foremost of our minds when we discuss and agree the measures that need to be put in place at the club.
Following the Government announcement earlier this week the flag officers recommend members follow all guidelines to fight the spread of the virus and protect yourself and our NHS including stopping all unnecessary travel and therefore we recommend that members do not visit the site.
As you know we have already shut the bar and restaurant and cancelled all social and training activities for the foreseeable future in order to protect our employees, members and their families and comply with the directive given by the Government concerning safety and social distancing. Most of the clubs employees are working from home or have all been sent home on full pay. This policy will be reviewed monthly. Andrew Rance, our general manager will sometimes be on site during working hours to answer phone enquiries but please do not visit the office unless absolutely necessary. Simon Thomas will be keeping a watch on the yard, pontoons and boats.
The yard will not be launching or recovering boats until further notice but members will not be financially penalised for staying in the yard beyond their scheduled launch date. We will maintain only a minimal yard staff presence and therefore contractors are not allowed on the site without a staff member on duty and only with prior permission. If there is a critical issue with your boat please first contact the yard / office or a flag officer for advice.
The clubhouse has now been closed and secured, including the main toilets and showers. If anyone requires toilet facilities a small unit situated at the rear of the building will still be available. They can be opened with your access card. Please try to keep them as clean as possible as we do not have any cleaning staff on site until we are fully functioning again. We are reviewing the information we are receiving daily and I know you are fully aware of the fast-moving situation that confronts us. We will continue to post bulletins as frequently as we need to.
On behalf of your management team please keep safe, work with us, look after each other. We all have a responsibility to follow the Government’s guidance and accept that nothing we do with our boats can be classified as ‘essential’.
When we finally get through this I am looking forward to joining you all for a well earned social in our lovely clubhouse.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
for and on behalf of the Committee of Management.
