Gaffers in the Bay

The Gaffers hold weekly sails from April to the end of September every Thursday afternoon/evening. In addition, there will be other local events organised by the OGA, the Association for Gaff Rigged boats, during the summer. Any boat with a T(H)CF handicap can enter any event which are all free. If you don’t have a handicap one will be allocated Just complete the entry form and you will be immediately entered. The Gaffers format is very simple, there is no mark layer or committee boat and the organiser is one of the fleet. All the marks used are existing marks in the Bay and boats self time themselves around a fixed course. The idea is to have a good sail and everyone enjoys themselves. After sailing the we adjourn to the bar and for a jar, meal and a chat. Further information can be found on the CBYC Web Site under Sailing/Gaffers in the Bay. In addition Gaffers sailors talk to each other via a WhatsApp group which is also used by the organiser to pass information about upcoming events. If you are interested just turn up on a event day or contact
