RYA Powerboat Level 1
About the course:
This course will provide a practical introduction to boost handling and safety in powerboats. It is a good taster to get started in powerboating. You do not need to do this course to do your RYA Powerboat Level 2. The course includes:
- Equipement
- Low and Fast speed boat handling
- Use of kill cord
- Picking up a mooring Bouy
- Leaving and coming alongside
The course is mainly practical with a small theoretical element.
Assumed Knowledge:
No previous Knowledge is required for the course.
At the end of the course it is the aim to reach the RYA Powerboat Level 1 of the National
Powerboat Scheme.

About the course:
The powerboat level 2 course is designed to give you a good understanding of boat handling and seamanship. This is normally the minimum requirement to hire boats in the UK and when paired with an International Certificate of Confidence, abroad. The course includes:
- Launching and recovery
- Boat Handling
- Securing to a buoy
- Anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Man overboard
- etc
On completion of this course you will have a basic understanding of all these skills and a good grounding to build on them.

RYA Safety Boat
About the course
This course is designed to introduce you to the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies and windsurfers, provide safety cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management. Techniques for canoes, kayaks and kitesurfers will also be discussed. The main areas will be:
- Boat Handling
- Dinghy Rescue
- Windsurf Rescue
- Theory of Kayak and
Canoe rescue
- etc.
This course is aimed at getting you ready to support sailing and windsurfing at clubs and events.
