1.0 NOTICES
TO COMPETITORS
1.1 Notices
to all competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board, which is
located at CBYC.
2.0 CHANGE
OF SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 Any changes in the sailing
instructions (SI) will be posted 2hrs before the advertised starting times of
the races concerned.
2.2 Changes in the SI's will be indicated
by displaying the IC Flag 'L' from the mast on the Committee boat. When no further changes have been made IC
Flag 'L' will be lowered after the start of the race
3.0 SIGNALS
MADE
3.1 Signals
made will be hoisted on the flagpole, the location of which is on the Committee
boat.
3.2 When flag ‘AP’ is displayed, there
will be 1 minute after lowering (one Sound Signal) before the next warning
signal.
3.3 When
flag ‘Y ‘is displayed Rule 40 applies at all times while afloat. This changes the Part 4 preamble
3.4 Communications
will boats on the water will also be via VHF Channel 37 (M1) It is mandatory
that
each
boat shall carry a radio capable of two way communication on this channel
4.0 CLASS

4.1 The

5.0 COURSE
AREAS
5.1 The Regatta will take place within Barry/Cardiff
Roads and approaches and the Cardiff Bay Enclosure.
5.2 The course areas, marks, rounding
order and number of laps will be announced over the V.H.F. Channel 37 (M1)
6.0 MARKS
6.1 Course marks will be of the
inflatable type and/or navigational
buoys.
7.0 THE
START
7.1 Races
will start as follows. this changes rule 26.1 and 30 (Appendix 'N' of the RRS).

7.2 The starting line is defined as the line between a mast displaying an Orange Flag on the Committee Boat and a mark as shown on the course diagram.
7.3 All boats whose warning signal has not been made,
shall keep clear of the start area.
7.4 All
boats not starting within 15 minutes of their fleets will be scored as ‘DNS’.
8.0 POSTPONEMENT
8.1 Any
postponement will be broadcast on the VHF Channel 37 (M1)
9.0 SHORTENED
COURSE
9.1 In the event of the course being
shortened a boat will display IC Flag ‘S’ and the nearby rounding mark will be
the finishing line, it may also be
notified by VHF Channel 37 (M1)
10.0 RECALLS
10.1 If, at the starting signal, any part of
a yacht or her crew are on the course side of the starting line flag ‘X’ will be displayed and a
single sound signal shall be made.
Individual yachts starting prematurely may also be notified by VHF
Channel 37 (M1)
11.0 GENERAL
RECALLS
11.1 If there are a number of unidentified
premature starters or an error in the starting procedure a general recall will
be made by displaying Flag ‘First
Substitute’ with a double sound signal.
The fleet may also be notified by VHF Channel 37 (M1)
12.0. NEW
START AFTER GENERAL RECALL
12.1. The
starting sequence will recommence as soon as possible after the general recall
has been observed
13.0 FINISH
13.1 The finishing line will be between the
mast bearing the Orange Flag aboard the committee boat and the finishing mark
14.0 TIME
LIMITS
14.1 Races
1,4,5 & 6 will have a time limit of 2.5 hours.
Races
2,3,6,7,9 & 10 will have a time limit of 2 hours.
Race
11 will have a time limit of 4 hours.
15.0 PROTESTS
15.1 Protests will be written on forms
available from the race office. Boats intending to protest must, if
practicable, inform the Race Officer at the earliest opportunity via VHF. The
time limit for protests will be 45 minutes after the time of the last boat coming ashore. Protest forms must be
delivered to the Race Office within this time and be accompanied with a fee of
£10.00. The protests will be heard at a convenient time after the time limit
for protests, but in any event before the presentation.
