PY Handicap
1 Allocation of Handicaps
1.1 Portsmouth Numbers will be those published in the current RYA YR2 for each class, adjusted as necessary for variations from Base Rig.
1.2 Boats without Portsmouth Numbers published in the current RYA YR2 will be allocated Numbers as published on www.byronsoftware.co.uk
1.3 Boats without Portsmouth Numbers from 1.1 and 1.2 above will be allocated numbers by the race committee.
1.4 Boats that have previously competed will be allocated numbers based on their previously progressed numbers, adjusted as necessary for material changes.
2 Handicap Progression
2.1 Portsmouth Numbers will be adjusted after each assessable race around the mid point boat up to a limit of 3%.
2.2 Recalculated handicaps will be published together with the results of the latest race.
2.3 The act of handicap adjustment or failure to adjust will not be grounds for redress.
3 Material change
3.1 Material change of boat or crew means any change or modification to the boat [hull, sails or rig] or any change of crew from that with which a boat generated its current TCF where it can be anticipated that a boat would have a measurably improved performance due to the change.
3.2 Material changes should only be made between race series.
3.3 All material changes must be notified to the race committee before the next race in which they compete.
3.4 Material changes made during a race series may result in the handicap being adjusted from the beginning of the series.
3.5 Allowances to handicaps

4 Letter and Spirit
4.1 The letter and spirit of PY racing at CBYC events requires that owners would:
4.1.1 Make a genuine effort in every race, and not seek to earn a handicap that is not a true and fair reflection of the performance potential of the boat and crew.
4.1.2 Make the necessary disclosure where there has been a material change in the boat or its crew.
