Matters arising:-
There was a question mark over the Penarth Pintle Match Race due to the fact that many crew members will be away attending other events.
It was stated that CBYC would provide dinghies for (taster) sailing sessions at the Cardiff Harbour Regatta. Iwan Basten informed the committee that this would no longer be possible.
Open discussion on racing to date:-
All agreed that the turn out was good and racing at the club was enthusiastically supported.
Tony Davies suggested that we look at a new handicap system which he
would e-mail to members of the committee.
Whilst the PY fleet was growing it was felt that as numbers racing under IRC rules were dwindling and it might be better to amalgamate Sports Boats and IRC under one open fleet. However, if we were to continue with IRC and Sports Boats as separate fleets, then owners would have to nominate their class at the beginning of the series.
Report from dinghy section:-
Colin Farr informed the committee that the Dinghy Open will be held on 7th and 8th October.
There will be a pursuit race on 23rd July and all PY ratings will be provided by David Cairncross.
The ‘Round the Islands’ Race will take place on 29th July at 2:00pm. It was agreed that the cruisers would help to tow the dinghies to the start line. Only Laser 2000 dinghies and those of higher speed ratings will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted at the discretion of the organisers made up of :
Steve Cooper and Kevin Rolfe (Cruiser section)
Colin Farr and Sean Carter (Dinghy section)
Social Events:-
17th June - Regatta Social Evening.
Saturday, 1st July - Presentation and Social event for the end of the series.
