NEWS LETTER 2007 "NEXUS" J80 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS CARDIFF
Launching This will be carried out at the Cardiff Harbour Authority facilities just across the bay from the Yacht Club with a 6.0 tonne single point lift crane. A number of test launches have already been made and the most satisfactory method is with the mast down. Therefore all launches and recovery during the Championships will be with the mast down. The H.A. and Cardiff Bay Yacht Club both have sheltered facilities to permit mast stepping by gin pole with a boat afloat. 5 poles will be made available together with a team of our experienced members to assist competitors. Certified lifting straps and shackles will be provided by the Yacht Club, so please make sure your lifting bar and keel bolt nuts are safe and fully functional before you arrive. Depending on demand and weather conditions a slipway type travel hoist can also be deployed at another location within the bay. Launching times will published on the event web-site a little closer to the event and consideration will be given to those who have travelled the greatest distance. If you wish to deliver your boat to Cardiff the weekend before the event starts, storage can be provided at no extra cost and your boat will be launched during the week preceding the event by Cardiff Bay Yacht Club’s marina staff on the clubs slipway hoist. Skipper: Simon Leek Scrutinising Lt Col Syd Thomas ( R.O.R.C. representative for Wales ) Please make sure your boat has all the mandatory class equipment, class membership sticker and sail tags before you arrive. Parking On receipt of your entry fee two free parking labels will be forwarded to you. Please fill in the relevant details and attach the laminated one to your trailer and the other should be left clearly visible on the dashboard of your car. Trailers will be stored at the Harbour Authority compound adjacent to the launching facility. The competitor’s car park will be to the left of the main entrance for Cardiff Bay Yacht Club. Berthing, Storage and Parking All enquiries concerning these facilities at C.B.Y.C. should be made to our Marina Manager Barrie Metcalfe on 02920 666627 or admin@cbyc.co.uk There will a limited amount of parking space for motor homes which will provided at the discretion of the marina manager. Barrie is also the on shore event manager during the championships. Catering The entry fee includes tickets for the following-: Thursday 7TH June. Cardiff Harbour Authority reception at the "Norwegian Church" Mermaid Quay. Friday 8th June. Cardiff Bay Yacht Club Barbecue at the club house. Saturday 9th June. "NEXUS MARINE" Championship Dinner and Prize Giving. Please make sure that you collect your tickets during registration on Wednesday the 6th of June. The club house has full catering facilities which includes, breakfast, bar snacks and an A La Carte menu which will be available throughout the event. Our restaurant has stunning views of Cardiff Bay and the Bristol Channel and with excellent food at very modest prices.
