We sail within the 500 acre freshwater lake empounded by the Cardiff Bay Barrage which is the centre point of the redeveloped Cardiff Docks surrounded
by the thriving capital city that is easily accessible with extensive shopping, attractions and social life. We have a large clubhouse, with superb views over Cardiff Bay. The club house has extensive shower and changing facilities, full
access for disabled visitors, dry and wet bars and excellent catering. Flying fifteens are dry sailed, being launched by slipway and winch, rigging is then at adjacent pontoons. Flying fifteens are stored in a dedicated compound
within the boat park. Two races are held on Sunday (11.00 am start) all year round. Wednesday evening racing takes place in the summer.
We have a fleet of fourteen classics and 3 silver Flying Fifteens with a broad range of crew experience ranging from relative novices to
those with over 40 years racing experience. Some of the crews attend the FF classic nationals and indeed one of the boats (Stuart Jones 1155) has won on
two occasions.
Every year we host a popular and well attended classic flying fifteen event, the ‘Cardiff Classic’. Next years event is scheduled
for 25th -26th June 2005. If you need any info on Flying fifteen sailing in Cardiff or the Cardiff Classic then you can email Duncan
Baird the fleet captain
