Minutes of Dinghy
Meeting 20th September 2010.
Present JA, AP, HP, ID, IW
Apologies JG
1) Agreement minutes
All agreed minutes accurate.
2) Chair’s Report
Noted
A number of FF15 attended the PYC regatta. Theses were towed out by a rib from the club. It was noted that the rib struggled towing 3 FF15’s out of the locks and with the tides.
ID attending LLangorse this weekend.
ID felt that the clubs CYC and CBYC should develop links with PYC on the front especially with the number of RS 200’s now part of the clubs. One club member asked if the 4 Lasers currently club boats could be resurrected so that she could use one.
The dinghy com discussed this for some time. AP explained that lots of the kit for each boat was missing and that there needed to be a lockable box to store Laser parts to stop them disappearing.
At present the Com boat used for starting races is being repaired. The club work boat is to be used for the mean time.
Agreed
ID will contact PYC and arrange a meeting.
Id to contact NS and CL to ask for funds to buy missing kit and also about a lockable storage to be located on the bridge deck.
3) Treasurer’s report
This will be dealt with at the next proposed meeting
4) Compound
Noted
The dinghy com discussed the use it or loose it policy at length.
Agreed
The dinghy com agreed as a whole that the number of sails for the year should be increased from 6 to 10 sails.
This was agreed due to the waiting list of new members who were waiting for a space to store their boats. These new members were keen to race and sail their boats and at present there were a significant number of existing boats who had struggled to make 6 sails in a year. With the pressure on space in the compound the dinghy com felt it wants to encourage maximum boat usage by it’s members.
IW to contact Kirsty to ask for an amendment to the berthing request form and the covering letter that goes out with the stickers. The com also it would be useful to have a section on the berthing request form to include current e-mail address. It was felt that this would improve communication between the com and it’s membership.
5) Race Fees
Noted
There are still a number of outstanding race fees to be paid.
Agreed
AP to mark on the race results those boats that have not paid.
6) Matters for the main com
The com had already spoken to MJ.
7) AOB
Dinner/ Prize Giving
ID to sort out Laying Up Supper Friday 3rd December.
Penalty Turns
JA mentioned that there were a number of boats not doing the required penalty turns for racing infringements.
Both dinghy chairmen said they would raise it with their members.
Buoyancy Aids
Sailing instructions need to be amended to state that buoyancy aids must be worn during racing.
8) DONM
IW to contact JG with a date.
