Minutes From The Dinghy Meeting 11th January 2010

1)      Agreement of Minutes from the previous meeting.

 

All agreed accurate

 

2)      Chair’s Report

 

Noted

 

I.D. had received correspondents from C.Y.C complaining about the level of safety boat cover. Several incidents were outlined.

I.D. had replied and agreed with the problems stated.

The com discussed solutions which revolved around training for the safety boat and OOD.

 

Agreed

 

Safety boat crew should be on the water at all times with two people in the boat ( Not tied up to the OOD boat)

OOD training needs to be improved

The OOD rota should have an experienced OD paired with a less experienced OD

Safety Boat training to be offered to members IW to sort.

CYC member and Chris to be invited to the next meeting to discus ways forward.

 

3)      Treasurer’s Report.

 

Noted

 

John was unable to attend due to work commitments.

John is waiting for a full breakdown of all expenses from the office. This will be available at the next meeting.

 

4)      Open Meetings

 

Noted

 

Flying Fifteen open meeting will be arranged this year by ID who will contact the FF association. Meeting should take place around mid June.

An Asymmetric open to be arranged

Laser 2000 open to be considered for 2011.

A Calendar meeting needs to be arranged with sailing secretary, and Nick Sawyer

ID to e mail both to invite them to the next meeting.

 

5)      Donations to running the committee boat

This will be considered at the next meeting.

 

6)      Training Needs

 

Noted

 

Safety boat training, OOD training, Winch training, and new member support discussed.

 

Agreed

 

  • All Flying Fifteen sailors, crew and other interested dinghy sailors, must attend winch training. This is compulsory for all members who use the winch.  Winch training will take place on Saturday 20th February and Saturday 27th of February 10 a.m. start.
  • There will be a rules refresher and arbitration training for all members on Wednesday 3rd of March 7.15 p.m. Quay Lounge.
  • A Start racing course will be run in Early April please contact Helen Phillips By 27th of February if interested.
  • Throughout the sailing season on the first Saturday of every month

     ( Mornings) there will be club sailing. This will give members opportunities to;

       sail different boats, obtain advise and instruction, practice etc. Please contact       

       Idris Dibble for more details.

  • Power boat level 2 combined with elements of safety boat training will be run for members who need this training. This can only take place if sufficient members require training. If interested contact Ian Williams (iwilliams4@sky.com).

 

7)      AGM Prep

 

Agreed

 

IW would put an agenda together and e mail this to the dinghy com for approval. This would then be e-mailed to Ruth in the office to circulate to members. A copy would also be e- mailed to David to be put on the website.

The date of the meeting would be 24th Feb Quay Lounge ID to e-mail office to book Quay lounge.

 

8)      Start of New Season

 

Agreed

 

The new season would start 7th of March.
