Management Commitee

John Mead
President
Has been a member of the Club since the early sixties and has been an officer in various capacities for some 20 years. John is the only person ever to have been Commodore of both CBYC and Penarth Yacht Club. He sails a Sigma 33 known as "Spirit of Tilman" - (after his hero the mountaineer/adventurer/explorer and sailor Bill Tilman who was the subject of one of John's most memorable documentaries). As Vice President of the Club, John is comforted by the fact that his role is mostly one of representing the Club, with his wife Marilyn, at various functions. Despite his age John is still a very keen racing sailor !
Colin Farr

I have worked for the club for 20+ years as Boson, editor of Bear essentials for 6years, with various periods on committee, taking up Safety boat and race officer duties for the Cadet Section now the Dinghy Section. I am currently the Principal Race Officer and Acting Chairman Dinghy Section.

Steve Savory
Hon. Secretary
Recently retired from the pharmaceutical industry where I worked as an Engineering Compliance Manager. I have been sailed all my life having been brought up with boats. I have also sailed and raced dinghies from Hamble Sailing Club, then post meeting Lorraine and getting married, became pre occupied with climbing/walking in Scotland. Returned to sailing now with 5 children byway of a National 12; I started cruising out of Swansea in a very small but capable little sail boat with a lid and many boats later, having kept boats from Neyland to Cardiff, we now sail our Moody 31 Tillerman and have no desire to change.
Colin Lyons

I first joined PMC as a University undergraduate member in 1958 and raced GP14s and Fireflies; was an Olympic trialist in1966 in the Flying Dutchman class. I became the Welsh Youth Squad coach and WYA Training Committee Chairman in the late 60s. Was a relieved survivor in the 1979 Fastnet race. Raced and team raced Fireballs, GP14s and Albacores until the 80s then cruiser racing and cruising on the Bankrupt and Wishbone for the last 18 ½ years. I joined the COM this year as the SAILING School Principal.
Gareth Davies
Committee Member
Over the last five years I have involved myself in many aspects of the club, I am a committee member on the Angling Section and was co-opted on the CoM last year to represent not only anglers, but Power boat owners in general. I am passionate about the club and its future development as the "Premier" boat club in Wales, my reward for being involved is to see the many "Families" that make use of our facilities. Safe boating to everyone
