Dear Members
New CCTV System
A number of members
have approached us to ask about the new camera system. I thought I would take
this opportunity, as in this case it’s quite a large expense, to set out the
reasoning why we have decided to undertake this task.
For a long time the
club has had fencing around the yard and compound but, crucially, this cannot
extend to the pontoons and marina, and as a consequence our longest boundary
down the pontoon system is open to the river and unprotected. We clearly cannot
fence it off (!!!) and therefore a closed circuit camera system is the next
best option open to us.
In addition the other
organisations in the area have installed similar systems and therefore we
appear, by default, to be more unprotected.
The new camera system
has a clarity that would not have been possible only a few years ago and the
Committee hope that the members consider we have taken the necessary and
overdue steps to protect the member’s most valuable assets – your boats. The
initial cost may seem high, but on an individual boat / member basis we think
the value to be more than worthwhile.
I am more than happy
to discuss this, or indeed any other issues with members individually if they
so wish.
With best regards
Jonathan Crofts Davies
