2012 AGM
The Club’s AGM will be held on Wednesday,
28 March 2012 and full details will be circulated to all members
closer to the date. Despite the
difficult financial climate, the Club has continued to develop and the AGM
provides an opportunity for all members to hear not only of the steps that have
been taken during the past year to improve the facilities and services provided
for members but also those being planned for the future. The Club is run in the best interests of all
of us, so please try to make every effort to attend.
At each AGM, appointments are
made to CBYC’s Council of Management (CoM), which is the Club’s executive body
and which meets on a monthly basis.
Membership of the CoM includes the three Flag Officers, the five other
Club Officers (the Honorary Secretary, the Honorary Treasurer, the Membership
Secretary, the Sailing Secretary and the Principal of the Training Centre) together
with up to a maximum of 6 other general members.
As we all know, CBYC is both a
business and a club and its management requires members not only with energy,
diplomacy, dedication and an interest in the good running of every aspect of
the Club’s activities but also an ability to take decisions with which not
everyone will always agree! If you feel
you could make a useful contribution to the management of the Club, there is
currently one vacancy for a general member of CoM. Nomination forms are available from the
Club’s General Office and must be returned, duly signed and seconded, by 21
February 2012. If you think you
might be interested in joining CoM but would like to find out some more
information beforehand, you are welcome to contact the Commodore (Paul Simes)
or indeed any of the other existing members of CoM.
Can we also remind everyone of
the Annual Prize Giving Dinner to be held on Saturday, 24 March 2012. This
is the Club’s opportunity to acknowledge those who have helped CBYC and also to
award the Farmer’s Trophy to those who have somehow managed not to help
themselves!
